Eight Steps Newsletter Writing; 1- Analyzing the Audience

A newsletter is effective only if it is in accordance with the nature and requirements of the people you’re targeting in it. In order to have the maximum effectiveness a newsletter should be readers’ oriented. This happens only when you know:

Who are your readers?

What your newsletter aim to?

How often will it be published?

Starting from identifying the readers, make sure from which group they belong, i.e. members, trustees, or end users etc. This categorization and identification helps to select the suitable strategy to be used while writing the content.

The most important part of the newsletter is the purpose which is wrapped in the words in the coming steps. The purpose needs to be clearly identified so that the organizational productivity can be maximized. The purpose can be to attract more customers, build strong relations with the existing customers etc.

It’s very important to have a certain time frame. The life span of a newsletter determines the amount of content to be included in its each issue, what should be the length of each issue and what strategy to be used in each issue etc.

Once you’re done with the analysis of the audience and the newsletter’s base, the coming steps will nothing more than a staircase for you.
