Eight Steps Newsletter Writing; 5- Editing

Once the newsletter has successfully been written, it needs to be revised in order to check the flaws in it. This is considered to be the very crucial stage of newsletter writing as the effectiveness of the content of the letter entirely depends on the selections and omissions made with in this stage.

Proofreading ought to be done about twice or thrice and then the editing accordingly. Even if the content seems ok, do check the following attributes:

 

1-     Accuracy

 

2-     Relevancy

 

3-     The level of interest

 

4-     Length

 

5-     Tone

 

Accuracy includes the right use of grammar, facts and figures, the proper opening and closing etc. Checking relevancy is to find out the suitability of the links with in the content. If the newsletter rightly passes the first two checks it automatically falls in the category of interesting piece of writing. Proper length of the newsletter needs significant attention as a reader may loose the interest if he finds the newsletter too lengthy for him. Even if the newsletter is a masterpiece but too lengthy do shorten its length by summarizing the details. And finally keep a check on tone; it should be something what readers want to read not what you want to write.
